NEW HIRE: Laurie Brown is BSM Consulting's newest senior consultant.

We are thrilled to announce that distinguished ophthalmic administrator and educator Laurie Kallio Brown has joined BSM Consulting as a senior consultant.

Laurie brings more than 30 years of health care experience to BSM. She has extensive experience in administration and management roles and a strong clinical/surgical background, which includes surgical assistance and oversight of Food and Drug Administration-monitored core studies of new ophthalmic technologies. She joins BSM after concluding a prominent career with Drs. Fine, Hoffman & Sims, a world-renowned cataract and refractive surgery practice in Eugene, Ore.

“We are extremely excited to add Laurie to our growing team of skilled senior consultants,” said Bruce Maller, BSM Consulting president and CEO. “Laurie brings a unique blend of experience, which will help BSM Consulting continue to remain ahead of the curve and completely engaged in the challenges our customers face in a rapidly evolving marketplace.”

In her new role, Laurie consults with a variety of individual, group, and corporate clients to identify specific needs and issues while providing enduring strategic solutions that achieve stakeholder objectives. She is based in Tucson, Ariz.

“I have tremendous admiration and respect for BSM Consulting and what the firm has been able to accomplish over the past 35 years,” Laurie said. “To be asked to join such a dedicated and recognized organization is a dream come true. I strongly believe in the company’s mission to help medical professionals achieve their strategic objectives and thrive in any practice environment.”

Laurie is a frequent educator at national ophthalmic meetings. She has assisted in live cataract surgery demonstrations in five countries in conjunction with surgeon education meetings. Laurie is the author of numerous articles published in medical, association, and industry journals. In addition, she has extensive experience converting to electronic medical records.

In 2015, Laurie received OWL’s Catalyst Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership in supporting the advancement of women. She was also one of the first recipients of the ASOA William E. Rose, Jr. Pinnacle Award for regulatory compliance excellence.

She graduated summa cum laude from Northwest Christian University and, in 2012, earned the school’s Victor P. Morris Award, which is presented to the graduate of its Professional Studies program considered by faculty as the most outstanding based on academic excellence and leadership. Laurie later achieved her MBA from Northwest Christian University in 2014.

“Laurie is a driven and dedicated individual and team player with unwavering integrity and a tireless work ethic,” Maller said. “She willingly takes on the toughest assignments and thrives in challenging, fast-paced situations.
