BSM senior consultant Lisa Peltier shares what she's thankful for this holiday season

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. I have so many wonderful memories growing up and spending the day in my mom's kitchen, watching her make pie crusts (the flakiest, most delicious pie crusts imaginable); baking apple, pumpkin, and pecan pies; preparing the turkey with wonderful stuffing; and cooking so many other yummy dishes.

Each of us have similar memories of special moments and traditions that are passed down from generation to generation by loved ones, including those who are no longer physically present in our lives, but who we keep alive and close to our hearts in spirit. Today, my sisters and I continue many of mom's Thanksgiving traditions.

We miss her very much, but her spirit lives on in each of us, especially in the kitchen! The holidays seem to make these special memories more vibrant. I'm so grateful for everything my mom taught me, especially to love and appreciate family and friends, and most important, to give back! Recently, I find myself thinking more about the moments I’ve shared with those special to me who have blessed my life.

In 2013, I realized how truly blessed I am to have my family and literally an “army” of friends behind me when I started my battle against lung cancer. There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for the love, support, and inspiration I received. This sentiment extends to the exceptional group of caregivers who treated and helped me beat this disease. My appreciation for life’s blessings and cherished friendships has never been stronger.

I will forever be thankful to my wonderful family, my BSM coworkers (my second family), and all of you — our clients and business colleagues — who are an important part of my life. It’s an honor and privilege to be associated with such an outstanding group of people.

I also want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for BSM’s incredible founder, Bruce Maller, who I consider a friend and mentor. Thank you Bruce for the opportunities you have given me and all of us at BSM!

This February I will celebrate 30 years working for BSM! It is a very special milestone. I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of this amazing company since its early days when there were only four of us. Since then, I’ve been able to participate and witness our exciting growth and development, celebrating many accomplishments with our current family of nearly 40 employees.

During this Thanksgiving holiday, I encourage each of you to take time to express thanks for the blessings you’ve received, including the family members, coworkers, and friends who are part of your life.

Best wishes for a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
