Mr. Maller is the founder and President of BSM Consulting. In his current role, Mr. Maller provides consultative oversight and assistance for projects conducted by the BSM consulting team, ensuring consistent quality and client service. He also assumes direct responsibility for key corporate and provider projects, assisted by members of the consulting team as needed.
Mr. Maller consults with a wide array of clients in the areas of strategic planning, financial management, merger and acquisition transactions, business valuations, and business development opportunities.
Mr. Maller is a frequent lecturer for various medical societies and national conventions. He has also been a featured speaker at numerous meetings sponsored by various corporate and business groups and has been instrumental in the design of course content and speaker selection for many of these meetings. He is a frequent contributor to many health care management publications on different facets of practice management.
Ms. Peltier is vice president of operations, working at the Incline Village, Nevada offices of BSM Consulting. Ms. Peltier has extensive consulting skills in finance, including practice valuations, new business proforma/forecasting, financial benchmarking and trend analysis, development of practice budgets, and other financial matters. She also is skilled in general practice management issues such as human resources, personnel training and development, and staff management issues. Ms. Peltier has authored various articles on practice financial matters and staff management. She has provided lectures for numerous medical societies and national conventions.
In addition, she is responsible for coordination of services provided by the various BSM consultants, optimally matching client needs with appropriate BSM resources. She coordinates activities involving multiple consultants and maintains general oversight responsibility to ensure the quality and timely completion of all projects. Ms. Peltier serves as the liaison between BSM and its corporate partners and is responsible for project management, triaging of consultative resources, and assisting with training and development.
Ms. Peltier has more than 22 years of medical consulting experience with BSM. Before joining the company, she gained over 13 years of experience in management of a financial consulting practice and in sales and customer service supervision with General Electric. She is a graduate of Sawyer's College of Business in Pasadena, California.
Mr. Preece is a senior consultant with BSM Consulting and is based in Orem, Utah. Mr. Preece consults with medical practices in the areas of strategic planning, cost containment, marketing, new business opportunities, referral networking, management techniques, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, physician relations and compensation, team building, financial controls, patient satisfaction, and employee motivation. Mr. Preece has provided services to most medical specialists, including ophthalmologists, cosmetic and plastic surgeons, dermatologists, orthopedists, cardiologists, general surgeons, radiologists, internists, and family practice physicians. His work encompasses private medical practices and academic sites, and he has provided marketing and sales development work and training for numerous medical device and pharmaceutical companies.
Before joining BSM, Mr. Preece enjoyed 20 years as CEO of Enhancement Dynamics Inc., a medical practice management consulting company. He also has experience as a medical practice administrator and as a regional manager of an ambulatory surgery center company. Early in his career, Mr. Preece was a managing partner in Sunstar Communications Group, the owner of KNFL radio.

Mr. Preece is also an active author. His writings include articles on human resources, management techniques, strategic planning, and financial management. He has written for publications such as EyeNet and Executive Update and is the human resources columnist for Administrative Eyecare magazine. He was co-author of the Business of Ophthalmology volume of the American Academy of Ophthalmology's series of books entitled The Profession of Ophthalmology. Mr. Preece received his bachelor of arts degree cum laude in communications and his master of business administration degree with high honors from Brigham Young University.
Dana Jacoby is a senior consultant with BSM Consulting, located in Doylestown, PA. Ms. Jacoby has more than ten years of experience in healthcare with roles in sales, operations, consulting, and management.
Ms. Jacoby has been involved in change management, operations, equipment sales, and/or product positioning in 30 of the 35 major medical markets in the United States. Additionally she has been responsible for sales relationships and business planning strategies with management, medical staff, and physicians at 17 top-tier hospitals as ranked by U.S. News and World Report.
As a consultant, Ms. Jacoby had articles published in national medical journals including Practical Dermatology, Plastic Surgery News, and ADA/M, the American Academy of Dermatology’s management journal. Additionally she has been a keynote speaker in areas of financial benchmarking and analysis, SEO strategies, marketing, and patient retention at national medical forums across the country.
Ms. Jacoby holds a bachelor of science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a Master of Management from Tulane University in New Orleans. In addition, earned a Master of Health Systems from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, NJ and is a Wharton Fellow Inductee at Wharton University in Philadelphia, PA.
Ms. Baldwin is director of bariatric services for BSM Consulting. Ms. Baldwin provides support to BSM and corporate clients in all aspects of bariatric practice management, including identification, development, and implementation of resources to improve the quality and efficiency of programs. She is experienced at development and management of multidisciplinary bariatric programs, with a strong background of clinical expertise in the bariatric surgery field.
Ms. Baldwin is a Certified Bariatric Nurse with more than six years of experience in bariatric program development. She has held management positions in several healthcare organizations, most recently as director of bariatric services for a large hospital system, where she provided leadership to a multi-site, comprehensive obesity management program. Specific areas of responsibility included development and implementation of clinical guidelines and education, operational growth, and leadership in physician relationships.
She has developed numerous staff continuing education conferences and workshops on medical and surgical treatment of obesity. Ms. Baldwin is a frequent speaker at many workshops and has served as course director and facilitator for Allied Health Post-Graduate courses at the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Ms. Baldwin is a member of the National Association of Bariatric Nurses, where she currently holds the position of vice president, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She has an associate degree in nursing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Ms. Burt is director of accounting and facilities management services with BSM Consulting, located in Incline Village, Nevada. Ms. Burt provides accounting and financial services for the company, as well as related support for corporate clients in a number of financial areas.
She is actively involved in the business operations for BSM and works closely with the technology services team on a variety of IT-related issues. In addition, Ms. Burt plays an active role in oversight and management of several of the company's Web-based operations and participates in project management for other key BSM projects.
Prior to joining BSM, she worked for more than eight years in business management and accounting for a diversified set of businesses, serving as office and accounting manger. She has experience in all aspects of accounting, auditing, and tax compiling.
Ms. Burt attended the University of Hawaii, where she studied business management and language.
Ms. Jensen is director of client services with BSM Consulting, located in Incline Village, Nevada. Ms. Jensen manages and oversees the customer service and administrative support services departments that assist clients across BSM's areas of healthcare specialties: eye care, medical aesthetics, and bariatric services.
In this position, Ms. Jensen is responsible for the coordination of services provided to the client consultants, optimally matching client needs with appropriate BSM resources. Triaging requests from these specialties, she oversees completion of projects by the BSM client services team to ensure high quality and consistency of work.
Ms. Jensen supervises the ongoing coordination and completion of practice enhancement programs for service providers, including employee and patient satisfaction surveys and reports, telephone mystery shopping, and website assessment.
Serving in a human resources capacity, Ms. Jensen is responsible for hiring, training, and integrating the client services team into the company culture. Her supervisory capacity extends beyond the Nevada office to include BSM personnel in outlying offices.
Ms. Jensen received her bachelor of arts degree in mass communication from California State University East Bay in Hayward, CA.
Mr. Koval is a principal and senior consultant with BSM Consulting, located in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Koval consults with medical practices throughout the United States in the areas of physician employment and buy/sell agreements, practice valuations, mergers and acquisitions, purchase/sale transactions, income distribution systems, practice finance and budgeting, and general practice governance and management.
Before joining BSM Consulting in 1994, Mr. Koval compiled more than 13 years of hospital and group practice experience, including six years as administrator of a 40-physician multispecialty group practice and another six years as administrator of a 15-physician practice.
Mr. Koval is a frequent speaker at numerous state and national conferences and has provided lectures for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators, Medical Group Management Association, New England Ophthalmological Society, and Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology. He also has conducted seminars for residents/fellows at Duke University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Indiana University, Louisiana State University, Loyola University (Chicago), Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Mayo Clinic, Medical College of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Saint Louis University, Stanford University, SUNY-Downstate, Washington University, Wills Eye Hospital, and the Universities of Arizona, California-San Diego, Colorado, Florida, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa, Kansas, Miami, Minnesota, Missouri-Kansas City, Oregon, South Florida, Texas-San Antonio, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
His writings have appeared in Administrative Eyecare, Practical Neurology, EyeWorld, Ophthalmology Management, Practical Dermatology, Review of Ophthalmology, and other professional journals. Mr. Koval is a member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and is a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE). He is also a member of the editorial board for Ophthalmology Management and past contributing editor for Administrative Eyecare. He received his bachelor of arts degree cum laude in economics and masters in public administration from Idaho State University.
Mr. Maller is an Associate Consultant at BSM Consulting, working in the Scottsdale, Arizona, office. Mr. Maller assists with development of practice management tools and resources and with financial benchmarking programs for BSM clients. He also assists BSM Senior Consultants with client projects across BSM’s areas of health specialties: eye care, bariatric services, and medical aesthetics.
Prior to joining BSM, Mr. Maller worked in information technology services at the University of San Diego in a variety of roles. Most recently, he served as a testing analyst during the implementation of a campuswide software program at the University. His past areas of responsibility include process and procedure development; training design and facilitation; staff management; budget planning; and technical support.
Mr. Maller received his bachelor of arts and science degree in diversified liberal arts and his master of business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of San Diego.
Ms. Salvato is director of optical consulting for BSM Consulting at its St. Louis office. Ms. Salvato provides consulting services for providers and corporate clients in all areas of optical management, including development, production, financial analysis, billing, and cost controls. She is particularly experienced in setup and development of new dispensaries and growth and operational analysis of existing dispensaries.
Ms. Salvato is an ABO-certified optician with more than 29 years of optical experience. She has held supervisory positions for both retail chains and the private sector with duties that included dispensary management, training, and development. For six years, she served as optical operations manager and director of optical consulting for two national physician management corporations, assisting more than 75 vision care offices. Specific areas of responsibility included setup and development of new dispensaries, growth and operational analysis of existing dispensaries, employment screening and training, profit growth, and assistance with national purchasing agreements.
She has developed and performed numerous workshops and seminars for clinic employees, focusing on patient retention and in-house referrals.
Ms. Salvato is an active member of the Opticians Association of America, a fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry, and a current member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators.
Mr. Thorne is the Director of Programs with BSM Consulting, located in Incline Village, Nevada. Mr. Thorne oversees and manages both the financial programs and the non-financial programs offered by BSM Consulting. He also provides consulting services for individual and corporate clients in a variety of financial areas, including business valuations, trend analysis, financial forecasting, budgeting, compensation modeling, and financial benchmarking.
Before joining BSM in 1998, Mr. Thorne spent more than ten years working in the public accounting industry as a senior associate. His experience includes auditing, client write-up services, tax research, and client tax services. He is also a contributor to several health care publications on a variety of financial topics.
Mr. Thorne is a certified public accountant and is licensed in Nevada and California. He holds a bachelor of science in management/accounting from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California.
Ms. Waddle joined BSM Consulting with more than 20 years experience in the eye care industry. She filled many roles during that time, including marketing director and administrator for several practices, manager of a specialty IPA, health care consultant, and national director of managed care for a practice management company. In 1998, she joined LaserVision Centers and began to focus on refractive and cosmetic surgery. After the merger of TLC Laser Eye Centers and LaserVision, Ms. Waddle served as a vice president for TLCVision, where she provided strategic leadership and operational oversight for the western region's refractive laser centers and mobile laser clients.
Her areas of expertise include strategic planning and implementation, analysis for and development of new business lines, development of referral networks, customer service, staff training, managing the business of elective surgery, human resources, internal and external marketing, managed care contracting, and operational efficiency. She has written articles for various medical journals and given presentations on practice management topics to national doctor groups and practice management organizations.
Maureen completed her bachelor of arts degree in government/journalism and her master of business administration coursework at California State University, Sacramento. She currently lives outside of Sacramento with her husband and their two children.
Mr. Walker is director of publication services for BSM Consulting, located at the Incline Village, Nevada, office. In this position, he coordinates, plans, and produces a full range of client media projects ranging from written materials to electronic, Internet-based programs.
His responsibilities include conceptualization, organization, design, and layout of various communication and learning products and services, such as newsletters, marketing/advertising tools, electronic learning courses, reports, training manuals, brochures, forms, seminar handouts, slide presentations, and other materials. In addition, he provides staff oversight and project management.
Prior to joining BSM in 1994, Mr. Walker accumulated more than 15 years of print media experience. During this time, he served in several different positions, including reporter, managing editor, and publisher for various newspapers, newsletters, and magazines. His writings have appeared in Administrative Eyecare, Dermatology Business Management, Practical Dermatology, Practical Neurology, Resource Management, Refractive Business Advisor, and other professional journals. He is author of the book titled Ten Eyecare Practices: Benchmarks for Success and is a contributing editor for Administrative Eyecare magazine.
Mr. Walker is experienced in all areas of publishing, including editing and reporting, composition, design, typography, layout, advertising, and related marketing. He has vast knowledge of patient and staff education programs and materials.
He received his bachelor of science degree in journalism from Utah State University.
Mr. Wynne is a Senior Financial Analyst at BSM Consulting, working in the Incline Village, Nevada, office. Mr. Wynne provides financial services for providers and corporate clients in a variety of areas, including practice valuation, trend analysis, and financial benchmarking.
Prior to joining BSM in 2008, Mr. Wynne worked for more than five years in the public accounting and home-building industries. His past areas of responsibility include revenue forecasting, financial modeling, project and inventory valuation, budget administration, and cost management. He also has extensive information systems and programming experience related to the implementation of numerous financial emulation programs.
Mr. Wynne received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno.
